‘WARRIORS OF FREEDOM’ – THE DESIGN AND HISTORY OF LITHUANIAN PARTISAN UNIFORMS

Warriors of Freedom is an exhibition of partisan uniforms reconstructed by designer Giedrius Paulauskas, which was organized by our client Vilnius Academy of Arts Design Innovation Centre. The exhibition presented to the public the result of six years of research into historical design – an authentic, reconstructed partisan uniform complete with its insignias. Our aim was to spread word about the exhibition widely, explain how it had come into being, and to enhance the exhibition’s relevance with the interesting information for potential visitors were invited to attend it. We worked successfully with the information partner, national newsstand magazine ‘Žmonės’, which published an article together with photos from a photo session in which celebrities wore the reconstructed uniform. National TV channel LRT also broadcast a report from the exhibition’s opening, which was attended by the country’s first lady, Diana Nausėdienė, and other honored guests. It was a great honor for us: surviving partisan Juozas Jakavonis-Tigras came to the opening, and on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuania’s independence, he shared his memories of the partisans’ struggles and the uniforms they wore.
